Taking Advantage of the "Indoor Season"
I’ll admit it. I am not a fan of cold weather.
As a meteorologist, my job is more interesting because I forecast the weather in a part of the country where there are all four seasons; with all of the extreme weather conditions each one of those seasons creates.
In West Michigan, extreme conditions range from heavy lake effect snow with bitterly cold air and blizzard conditions, to the heat and humidity of steamy summer afternoons.
My favorite days are the warm ones; especially when skies are sunny. I love taking nice long walks; enjoying nature around me. Playing golf as a favorite hobby as well. I even enjoy just sitting outside listening to podcast or reading a book.
The problem with those sunny and warm days lies in the fact that I know they are so temporary. As a result, I find the need to enjoy as many hours outside during those warm months as possible.
Of course, this creates a major issue, because I tend to put off all of the tasks that I consider to be “indoor activities”, because I know much too soon, the chilly and gloomy and wet and snowy weather will arrive.
It’s typically quite a dilemma, because I know that my procrastination is simply putting things off that often need my time and attention. But, I always figure, the weather will force me indoors. It’s literally just a matter of time.
That was the case this weekend. The first batch of unseasonably cold weather for the Fall season arrived, and just as I have been promising myself, I tackled a project I had been putting off for many months (truth be told, the closet was such a disaster, I had actually been putting it off for a few years)
So, here are the “before and after” pictures of my indoor work accomplished on the chilliest day of the season (so far)
Of course, the closet was only the first of many projects I need to tackle during the cold months to come. In fact, as I enjoy a “job well done” on the closet, I’m actually looking forward to accomplishing many more of the other “indoor” tasks in the even colder months to come.
It’s important that I take advantage of the opportunity during these “indoor” months, so I will be able to enjoy the sunny and warm “outdoor” months to come!
